10 Good Series For New Anime Fans

Just getting into anime and looking for some quality series to check out? Here are 10 that everyone should be familiar with:

1) Death Note


Light Yagami is just a normal student until one day he finds a death note, this book allows him to kill anyone in the world by simply writing their name on a page. Joined by his new partner, the shinigami Ryuk, Light decides to kill off all evil people in the world. Once all of the evil people have been eliminated Light plans to rule the world as a god.

This is a great introduction to mystery anime for anyone who has yet to watch one. The plot is filled with many memorable moments, and the psychological thrills will be sure to keep your attention all the way until the last episode.

2) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood


Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, attempt to use taboo alchemy to bring their dead mother back to life. Everything goes wrong and one of Elric’s arms is destroyed while Alphone’s soul is left trapped in a suit of armor. After the failed resurrection the boys decide to join the state military in an attempt to find the Philosiphers Stone, a legendary magical item that may be powerful enough to get Alphonse’s body back.

A much more complete version of Full Metal Alchemist than the original, this is a great adventure story. Elric and Alphonse are awesome main characters who any viewer will easily get attached too.

3) Naruto


As the powerful Nine-Tailed Fox demon is attacking the Hidden Leaf Village, the 4th Hokage has no choice but to seal the demon inside of a newborn baby named Naruto. The years pass and now Naruto has a mission to become the strongest ninja in the village and take on the role of Hokage. Many villagers are harsh and shun Naruto for harboring a demon within him, but with the help of his new found friends, Naruto begins his mission to become the hero of his village.

A recent staple of the shonen genre, the world of Naruto is filled with intense ninja fights and many interesting characters. With all of the different Ninja having unique powers and personalities, every viewer is sure to have a favorite (whether it be a righteous ninja like Naruto, or a evil ninja with darker motives).

4) Future Diary


Yuki Amano is a loner who spends most of his time on his phone keeping up his diary. One day Yuki is given a special phone that has entries in it from the future. It is revealed to Yuki that 11 other people have been given similar phones, and that they must all participate in a killing game where they are to find and murder each other, with the last survivor becoming the new god of time and space. One of the other players in this game is Yuno, a girl who is desperately in love and obsessed with Yuki. Yuno will stop at nothing to kill all the other players, and then kill herself so that Yuki will win.

Future Diary is a fantastic series for new anime fans. This psychological thriller has a lot of killing with many mystery elements. The romance story of Yuki and Yuno will definitely have you wondering how this killing game will really end.

5) Sword Art Online


Sword Art Online is the worlds hottest new game that uses advanced virtual reality to put players inside of a massively multiplayer online role playing game. On the first day that the game is launched the players discover that they are unable to log out. The creator of the game then informs all the players that the only way they can leave the game is by reaching level 100 and defeating the final boss. However if they die in the game, they will die in real life as well. One of the players named Kirito who was apart of the games beta tests sets out on the mission to beat the game and return to the real world. He eventually finds a powerful female player named Asuna, and together they continue the quest to level 100.

A really good anime for anyone who has ever played an online role playing game. All of the characters and action scenes are beautifully animated. The overall style of the series will definitely be similar to video game fans.
